 ston\, Texas\, were informed of their freedom on June 19\, 1865\, more t
 han two months after the end of the Civil War and more than two years af
 ter President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.\n​
 \nMore than a historical milestone\; Juneteenth is a sacred opportunity 
 to affirm our shared humanity\, celebrate the rich heritage of African A
 mericans – including Black Catholics\, and continue the journey toward
